Journey to Joy (#3 Triptych) is the third piece from the ‘Journey to Joy’ triptych.

This collection is concerned with uncovering and exploring the inner parts of the self, enjoying new discoveries, ‘casting off the transient and revealing the true’. Inspired by both emotional and physical transitions as well as the Lotus Sutra, one of the most influential Buddhist texts.

This triptych represents the final pieces in this body of work. Going beyond, expressing joy with the use of brighter colours, the journey starts to have a rhythm, replicated each time with subtle changes. The bright yellow tones in the final layer invite you to expand your experience, and let go of what is no longer necessary. The underlayer depicts joyful expression, a space where feelings are explored and transformed, amongst the gold highlights and sister pigments. The final celebration of the past and the blueprint for future joyful expression.

Painting on deep edge canvas, size 46 x 61 cm (18 x 24 ins)

It works well with the other two paintings in this series as a triptych.
